Dr. Caren DeBernardo
Clinical and Forensic Psychologist
I'm a licensed psychologist in Maryland and Delaware. I earned my Bachelors degree cum laude in psychology from New York University and my doctorate in clinical psychology summa cum laude from Indiana State University. I completed a two year post-doctoral fellowship specializing in forensic and law enforcement psychology at Sheppard Pratt Hospital, a private psychiatric hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. I served as the Director and Assistant Director of Forensic Services at Sheppard Pratt Hospital for many years before opening my own private practice specializing in clinical, forensic and police psychology. I'm the psychological consultant to Baltimore County Police Department's Hostage Negotiation Team. I've published journal articles and book chapters on school violence, threat assessment, hostage negotiations, ethics, and death notification. I'm also a part time novelist. My first published novel, "Possession" is a psychological thriller that delves into the mind of a serial killer and is now available on Amazon.com. My second novel "The Dragon's Heart" is a young adult fantasy novel. It will be published in early 2024.
